Genta’s Legacy, Seiko’s Future
Seiko revisits a classic with a nod to Genta and a fresh twist on the Credor Locomotive.
The 2024 Credor Locomotive, reference GCCR995, marks a new chapter for Seiko. This isn’t just about celebrating the past; it’s about launching a design series that takes cues from Genta’s original vision. The connection between Genta and Seiko goes back decades, with the Locomotive being a testament to their collaboration. It’s not just a name—it’s about driving forward.
The watch features a 38.8mm hexagonal case in high-intensity titanium, known for being both light and scratch-resistant. The mix of brushed and mirror finishes gives it some visual depth. Water resistance is up to 100 meters, and it has an AR-coated sapphire crystal. Inside, you’ll find the in-house caliber CR01 automatic movement with 26 jewels and a 45-hour power reserve. It handles hours, minutes, central seconds, and date functions.
The dawn blue dial is where things get interesting. Inspired by train signal lights, it uses an intricate geometric pattern of hexagons with striped textures that play with light. It’s subtle but effective—less about flash, more about nuance.
The titanium bracelet continues the theme with its tapering design and hexagonal links. The blend of brushed and polished finishes transitions smoothly from case to clasp. It’s all in the details here.
Limited edition? No mention of that this time around. But at $13,200, it’s clear this piece is aimed at those who appreciate both heritage and innovation. You’ll know if it’s for you.
